Hi!

My name is Simba and I am a golden retriever. I had a rough start with life as I was barely surviving on the streets of Chicago.

I was so hungry I ate part of a basketball and ketchup packet which later had to be removed through surgery. I had heartworm disease and was barely hanging on to life when they found me and called GRROW (Golden Retriever Rescue of Wisconsin), who gladly accepted me. I underwent surgery to remove the foreign objects from my tummy and to extract a bad tooth. They had to shave me down to the skin because my hair was so matted. I looked pretty pathetic, all emaciated- but my true golden personality survived and started to thrive when I was adopted by my mommy.

We went through the heartworm treatment together and there were some days I was really sick. My mom had to hand feed me for the first 6 months because I ate so fast I'd throw it all right up (I still eat fast). I gained weight, grew a beautiful golden coat, and went to obedience classes to learn good manners.

I now have the BEST life and am what people call 'spoiled' although I think every dog should be treated this way. Guess that's why my mom opened Ruffin' It Resort to make dogs' dreams come true!
